Round table of project experts and analysts

Within December 12-19, 2015, Ecology Movement “BIOM” in partnership with K. Adenauer Foundation conducted a number of expert round tables in the Conference Hall of the Bishkek Financial and Economic Academy as a part of the Project “Promotion and monitoring of reforms in the field of education in the Kyrgyz Republic” to be implemented under the auspices of the European Union.

Round table “Promotion of culture of education in the Kyrgyz Republic education system” was held on December 12.

Round table “Education for Sustainable Development: challenges and prospects” was held on December 12.

Round table “Gender aspects of education in Kyrgyzstan: issues and prospects” was held on December 17.

Round table “Development of curricula and programs: formation of standards and supporting of education in the Kyrgyz Republic” was held on December 18.

Round tables were actively attended by members of the Public Council of the Kyrgyz Republic Ministry of Education, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, representatives of universities, schools and other educational institutions and representatives of international organizations, civil society, mass media and experts participating in the contest for analytical experts for preparation of analytical reports on the following subject areas.

Participants discussed issues of quality, content and management of education, gender aspects in education, inclusive education and education for sustainable development.

Full-scale discussion was launched on establishment of effective monitoring tools, which is an important part of enhancing the role and improving the capacity of the Public Council of the KR MES and the expert community in the decision-making system to reform education system and increase the transparency of reforms for the public.

Working seminar for experts included in the short list of experts for the Project “Promotion and monitoring of reforms in the field of education in the Kyrgyz Republic” was held on December 19. In the course of the seminar there was organized a meeting with representatives of the Project and selected international experts. Besides, experts formed a group to study and identified the content of teamwork in declared areas.

Let us remember that the project earlier announced a vacancy for the position of analytical experts to prepare analytical reports on the following subject areas:

  • content of education: development of curricula and programs, and methodological support and educational environment;
  • financing of educational system;
  • management of educational system;
  • development of quality assurance and accreditation systems;
  • gender aspects and inclusive education;
  • Aspects of sustainable education development

More than 50 applications from local and international experts were filed to that contest. As decided by the Commission, 6 international and 14 local experts were selected to prepare analytical reviews in 6 subject areas.

Analytical reviews will include analysis of existing regulatory, conceptual and strategic documents in the field of education, analysis of current situation in the field of education and recommendations for further development of educational reforms, monitoring and evaluation thereof. Close cooperation in a team with European experts is expected.  Prepared analytical reviews will be discussed in civil society and expert community and serve as a basis for promotion of recommendations in the decision-making system to improve quality and efficiency of education.
